In the quiet of Minnesota's Northland, in 1985, my Dad and his brother Darren established Royal Blue Ranch as a facility for horse breeding, training and showing.
Happily, I have inherited my Dad's interest and joy in working with animals. Since the founding of Royal Blue Ranch, Dad and I have formed a partnership in the Ranch. We, along with the rest of our family, have branched out to include dogs along with our horse training.
Growing up I was often referred to as the “animal lover” of our family, and I was! I loved all the animals that found their way to our farm, from the horses and chickens to the kittens and dogs. This love for animals fueled my decision to pursue a degree in animals. I have since earned my Associates degree in Animal Science from Northland Community and Technical College, as well as a Bachelor's degree in Equine Science and Business Management from the University of Minnesota, Crookston.
I am the middle of three kids. I have a younger brother named Brody, and my older sister is Brianna who is married to Jacob. They have a 4 year old daughter named Cassondra Rose, affectionately called Cassie, whose obsession is playing with the puppies when she comes to Grandpa and Grandma's house.
Dad and I find it very rewarding to see an animal respond to us as we work with them, and we find it even more exciting to realize that just as they have learned from us, we have learned from them. Dad grew up farming and raising animals, and he has passed a lot of his knowledge and experiences to me. This shared knowledge and love for the animals under our care has helped us to know how to give the best care possible to our dogs and puppies.
